Crayfish conservation

We have also secured funding to progress our work on crayfish conservation and to reduce the spread of invasive Signal Crayfish.  We found healthy populations of Native White Clawed Crayfish in the Aln during the recent fish pass work and we will be working with the National Trust and Northumberland Zoo to help protect this special and iconic species.

We are also planning some work with communities over the summer to raise awareness of the fact that some of our rivers have some of the best populations of native crayfish in the UK.
